Serving with the elite 35th Airborne Battalion, Sigh's air transport flight took part in the famous air assault on Rome during the closing months of the war. During the initial assault and the tense weeks that followed, Sigh and his flight threaded a gauntlet of intense anti-aircraft fire to ferry supplies and evacuate wounded troops from the city. Their V-25 Goshawk transports sustained heavy damage during these missions, and Sigh himself was wounded twice, but the flight never failed to complete their assigned missions. Now based outside Washington, the flight's V-25 have been modified with additional panels of carbon-fiber composite armor to given them added protection against small arms fire.
