Colonel Roger P. Funk of the 13th Airborne JSF grew up in Plymouth, Michigan. He is an outspoken proponent of using attack helicopters on the offense and likes to strike fast, keeping his enemy off balance. He joined the US Army in 1989 and fought in both Iraq wars and Afghanistan as an Apache pilot. Later, he attended airborne training at Fort Bragg and joined the 82nd Airborne. Funk had a short stint as a civilian military consultant but was recruited back to the military when the JSF was formed.
