Anaklusmos-class

Riptide, in Greek.

The FCI realized that if they used conventional landers, their forces would be highly unlikely to survive the sea. Meaning, they won't be murdered on the beach- they would be at the bottom of the drain before they could get murdered.

So, they developed a new type of lander, along the lines of “They can't shoot what they can't see”.

Type: Lander

Internal Designation: Submersible Lander

Displacement: 100 tons

Number: 32 in 2034

Purpose[]

The Anaklusmos-class is designed to ferry infantry or vehicles to the beach. To do so, it dips below the surface of the water to survive surface saturation bombardment, then pops out near the beach, reducing exposure time to lethal projectiles.

Capacity[]

The Anaklusmos-class can carry a Hellhound tank or 60 infantry.

Anti-Surface Suite[]

None.

Anti-Air Suite[]

None.

Anti-Submarine Suite[]

None.

Upgrades[]

A) Counter-magnetism Electromagnets

One problem with being underwater is that you run into MAD-equipped mines packing 500kg of directional high explosive. To solve such problems, the FCI implemented electromagnets into the the Anaklusmos to neutralize the magnetism of its steel hull.

Protection[]

The Anaklusmos is clad in Kevlar-reinforced Steel that protects it from anything as formidable as a 40mm shell. It also has a chaff and flare launcher.

Propuslion[]

The Anaklusmos is powered by a single MTU diesel motor that drive its sole propeller. It can push the Anaklusmos along at 20 knots and do so for 100 kilometers, far more than enough to make a round trip from a Keto-class to the beach.
