Toyota hilux

There might not be a better truck on this planet.

Centaur

Half-horse, half man.

A cheap truck with a machine gun mounted on the top, but with a ton of utility. Ranges from the scrapped-together Toyota Hilux to the stripped-down M998 Humvee.

The standard manpower/material mover in GAC militia groups.

Crew Composition[]

  • Driver
  • Gunner
  • 3-6 Passengers

Sensory[]

Eyes and ears, behind (hopefully existent) windows.

Upgrades[]

None.

Armament[]

General-purpose Machine Gun (1)[]

Mounted on the roof of the vehicle is a general-purpose machine gun. Ranges from the M240 to the PKM to the MG3 to the Type 59. All fire rounds in the 7.62mm caliber.

Upgrades[]

Suicide Explosives[]

Because they're cheap and fast, Centaurs can stuff explosives into the vehicle, making it a car bomb. Packing about 100kg of explosives, the manually-detonated explosives are useful in kamikaze attacks on higher-value targets. Detonation results in losing the vehicle and everything nearby. Including passengers.

Heavy Machine Gun (1)[]

Technical

For increased firepower, the Centaur can get a heavy machine gun, ranging from the M2 “Ma Deuce” to the NSV to the Type 54. All fire rounds in the 12.7mm caliber. Increases firepower against (very) light vehicles and infantry behind cover.

BGM-72 TOW 2 (1)[]

Humvee tow

Converts it into the Fire Centaur, at the cost of transporting infantry.

To provide highly-mobile anti-tank fire support, the Centaur can get a TOW 2 ATGM launcher, plus its crew and ammunition. The BGM-72 TOW 2 is a tried-and-tested wire-guided (hence unjamable) ATGM. The TOW2 missile can reach out to 3750m and blow through 890mm of RHAe. Effective against vehicles at long range.

Rocket Kit[]

Rocket technical firing

Converts it into the Rocket Centaur, at the cost of carrying infantry.

To provide friendly forces with mobile artillery support, the Centaur can be converted into a makeshift rocket artillery carrier in the field by simply lodging a 10-tube rocket battery, ammunition, and its crew inside. Each salvo consists of up to ten S-8 80mm rockets, which can reach a maximum of 5 kilometers and deliver a kilogram of HE. Effective at light targets in the distance.

Missile Kit[]

Converts it into the Missile Centaur, at the cost of carrying infantry.

To provide friendly forces with mobile AA support, the Centaur can be converted into a makeshift SAM carrier in the field by simply lodging a linked MANPADS battery, ammunition, and its crew inside. Each salvo consists of up to two FIM-92 Stingers (and copies), IR-guided missiles with a range of about 5 kilometers. Effective against low-flying aircraft and helicopters.

Protection[]

The Centaur provides little to no cover to its occupants. Sheetmetal does give it them tiny bit of protection against shrapnel, however.

Upgrades[]

Applique Armor[]

Bolt on sheets of metal, either galvanized iron straight from rudimentary furnaces or purpose-made hardened steel uparmoring kits. Increases protection to small-arms level.

Mobility[]

Centaurs are powered by various engines, depending on what the original vehicle was. It can transport its occupants on a road or off-road at speeds in excess of 60 kilometers per hour.

Upgrades[]

None.
