Cyclops
One-eyed monster of great strength, very effective if you like ripping doors off of their hinges and breaking apart brick walls.
The GAC apparently interpreted that line as the requirement as “sheer urban destruction.” Which is why they bought M270 “Grid Square Removal Systems” and named them Cyclopses.
Crew Composition[]
- Driver
- Commander
Sensory[]
The Cyclops retains the original vehicle's fire control system, mostly a long-range indirect sight, assisted by more advanced wind and gravity correction references, plus a laser rangefinder.
Upgrades[]
None.
Armament[]
270mm Rockets (12)[]
Mounted in 6-rocket clusters, the Cyclops can fire 12 270mm rockets in less than 40 seconds. Reaching out to a maximum of 45 kilometers, and loaded with 518 M85 HE submunitions, it can literally erase a one-kilometer by one-kilometer grid square under several hundred kilos of shrapnel. Bringing Steel Rain down on the enemy.
Upgrades[]
White Phosphorus[]
Burning at temperatures in excess of 2700 degrees Celsius, WP is one of the most terrifying incendiary compositions out there, especially since it is adhesive to skin. Loads the submunitions with “Willy Pete,” making them far more deadly to infantry and even vehicles, if exposure time is enough. Now, the Steel Rain is brought down in its molten form.
M31[]
A precision-strike 270mm rocket, loaded with a single HE-WP warhead, with inertial guidance and terminal laser homing. Extremely effective in targeting single high-value targets in urban or mountainous terrain.
Protection[]
The Cyclops is clad in Kevlar-reinforced Hardened Steel, making it well-protected against small-arms fire. Anything with more kinetic energy than a 12.7mm x 99mm AP bullet would be a different story.
Upgrades[]
None.
Mobility[]
The Cyclops runs on a refurbished Cummins VTA903 turbodiesel V8 engine. It provides 500 horses to move the 25-ton MLRS, making it able to steadily advance at a maximum of 64 kmph.
Upgrades[]
None.
