Frontiermen

Frontiermen

With thousands of kilometers of rough, undeveloped terrain, the IPC has its fair share of harsh territory. Ranging from barren deserts to mountain peaks to lush jungles, they need specialized infantry—conventional forces get butchered in these places.

This resulted in the formation of Frontier Battalions, forces dedicated to fighting in these extreme environments. They are completely voluntary, and require at least two months of additional physical, swimming, survival, stealth, and marksmanship training before entering service.

Squad Composition[]

  • Squad Leader
  • Spotter
  • Marksman
  • Sentry

Sensory[]

Eyes and ears, assisted by electronics. The Spotter gets a high-powered spotter scope, complete with optical rangefinder, plus laser designator. The squad leader gets a pair of good binoculars as well. A North Star “北斗星” friendly-tracker is standard.

Upgrades[]

IR Scope[]

A hardware update for the spotter scope, the IR scope adds a singe infrared telescope to the top of the (already) massive optics suite, allowing the spotter to watch for the heat generated by humans or vehicles. Makes sniping much easier.

Armament[]

Type 201 (3)[]

Type 201 40-mag

The Type 201 is a compact PDW built by Howa that fires 5.2mm x 20mm AP rounds. It is laid out similar to an MP5K, but fires armor-piercing ammunition, giving it more stopping fire. Frontiermen commonly fit their Type 201s with 40-round magazines and 1.5x magnification sights.

Type 602 (1)[]

Asian snipers need stable long-range firepower as well as the extra punch to deal with light vehicle incursions. To meet these requirements, Taiwan's CISIST developed the Type 602; a bolt-action 12.7mm x 99mm sniper rifle. Equipped with a powerful optical telescope, the weapon is able to lay down lead accurately on targets over a kilometer away. Equips the sniper.

Upgrades[]

NTW-20 (1)[]

NTW-20

To provide Frontiermen with the firepower to take on armored vehicle incursions, the IPC bought thousands of NTW-20 rifles from Denel of South Africa. Firing the 20mm x 82mm cannon round, the weapon is able to take out the majority of lightly armored vehicles at over a kilometer. Tank optics can be blasted apart as well, thanks to the usage of HE ammunition.

Protection[]

Frontiermen get the Iron Skin I ballistic suit, complete with armor inserts, allowing it to stop rifle rounds. Their helmets are not only equipped with high-tech toys, but also get Kevlar, Ceramic, and metal plating, allowing it to stop 7.62mm x 51mm rounds. The visor is hardened against 7.62mm rounds as well. Frontiermen also have NBC protection. Ghillie suits are also available.

Upgrades[]

Handheld Dazzler[]

To counter guided ammunition and to stop passive sensors from getting lock-on, Frontiermen can deploy handheld IR/ Laser dazzlers. Helps stop guided weaponry from finding their mark.

Mobility[]

Frontiermen march on their feet. Due to massive swathes of land they must patrol, they normally get mechanization (normally the rugged Toyota LAV), but when it's not available, they are capable of marching for kilometers on end.

Upgrades[]

None.
