M117

M117 Mastiff

Based off of TALON's technology, the M117 is an advanced robotic vehicle. Controlled via an encrypted satellite connection from an operator (possibly far, far away), the drone is capable of executing basic recon, utility and fire support roles.

Crew Composition[]

  • Drone Operator—Drone

Sensory[]

Each basic Mastiff carries a binocular navigation camera and headlights, which allows the operator to efficiently position the vehicle wherever it should go. A single TV camera is provided for reverse maneuvering. The M117B is equipped with an extra elevatable E/O sensor suite, while the M117C gets an NGIAT E/O targeting suite. A GPS Blue-force-tracker is standard.

Upgrades[]

None.

Armament[]

M117A[]

The Engineer Support Variant of the Mastiff, the M117A gets a hardened blast shield (that can be raised or lowered), an operator-controlled robotic arm to defuse bombs, a large mid-drone loading bay for Sappers to pile their engineering equipment in, and an arm-mounted Shotgun (single-shell, slug, 18.5mm bore) to demolish what it cannot defuse.

M1117B[]

The Recon/Direct Engagement variant of the Mastiff, the M117B is armed with a trusty M2 BMG in a fully independent turret, which also contains nightvision-capable TV camera for targeting, an 800-round magazine, four smoke grenade launchers, and an elevatable E/O sensor suite. The M117B also gets an extra hydrogen fuel tank, more than doubling its effective range.

M117C[]

The Anti-Tank Warfare variant of the Mastiff, the M117C is equipped with four vertically-launched BGM-120 ATGMs, hardwired into top-attack mode. It carries an elevatable targeting E/O sensor suite (the same one found on the NGIAT), which is comprised of a binocular nightvision-capable TV camera, and a 9x~20x infrared camera. This allows accurate spotting, tracking, identification, and targeting for up to 15 kilometers.

Upgrades[]

Engineering Kit[]

Exclusively available for the M117A, the ESV Mastiff can get an extra robotic arm mounting a wide variety of vehicle repair equipment. Along with a couple cases of spare parts, the M117A can turn into a remote-control vehicle repair platform. Very, very handy for in-field repair.

Protection[]

While the core Mastiff doesn't come with much more than 3mm of Aluminum sheet metal, the -B and -C variants get bolt-on Steel-Kevlar plating that allows it to shrug off 7.62mm x51mm rounds. The M117A is nearly invincible to HE in its front, thanks to having a thick hardened steel blast shield that is designed to take the edge off of an explosion.

Upgrades[]

None.

Mobility[]

The M117 Mastiff is powered by four electric motors, giving it 50kmph on paved roads. With a fuel cell battery providing it with its energy requirements, it can travel 50 kilometers on a full hydrogen charge.

Upgrades[]
