M2127

M2127 Falcon

Based off of the M2126, the M2127 is simply the Falcon's dedicated mortar platform. With a rapidly-deploying/retracting armored shutter roof, it can house a mortar, its crew, and a plethora of ammunition.

Crew Composition[]

  • Driver
  • Mortar Operator
  • Mortar Operator

Sensory[]

Eyes, possibly wearing Grenadier helmets, behind bulletproof glass. The vehicle's mortar gets indirect sights and GPS targeting assistance. A GPS Blue-force-tracker is standard.

Upgrades[]

None.

Armament[]

M122 120mm Mortar(1)[]

The new standard company mortar of the NAU, the M122 is the next generation of the famed Soltam K6 family. Equipped with a GPS-assisted indirect sight, the weapon is completely automated and can automatically position the mortar in the correct location, once the target's coordinates have been plugged in. The M122 fires massive 120mm fin-stabilized shells to a distance of 8 kilometers. It can also fire sub-caliber mortar shells if they are equipped with a specialized insert. Thanks to both mortar operators having tethered XOS suits, the mortar can achieve a sustained fire rate of 16 rpm, four times greater than previous manually-reloaded mortars. Up to 40 rounds are stored internally.

Upgrades[]

XM400 HEGM[]

The High Explosive Guided Mortar round is a regular 120mm shell equipped with a laser seeker and guidance nose. It also includes a GPS guidance system for guidance when the laser is not visible or is jammed. However, accuracy drops from 0.5 meters to 3 meters.

NLOS-M(1)[]

The No-Line-Of-Sight-Mortar is an upgrade kit to the M122. Consisting of a Gauss accelerator and magnetic strips for the shells, the relatively inexpensive upgrade uses Gauss assistance (with power drawn from the vehicle's abundant power supply) to boost range by 100%. Deadly accurate mortar shells now coming from over 15 kilometers away.

Protection[]

The M2127 Falcon uses Advanced Modular Armor Protection, or AMAP. The AMAP-B plating on the front, sides, rear and top of the Falcon protect it from anything up to 14.5mm x 114mm rounds, while the AMAP-M armor module on its belly protects it from mines and IEDs. Finally, the entire interior is lined with AMAP-L, an advanced spall liner, to protect the occupants should the armor be penetrated.

Upgrades[]

AMAP-ADS[]

The Active-defense portion of the AMAP family, AMAP-ADS is the fastest-responding hardkill ECM system in the world. Consisting of 20 sensor/ directed-energy countermeasure modules that wrap around the vehicle, AMAP-ADS is capable of intercepting multiple projectiles, and even take out RPGs from a mere 50 meters. This system vastly increases the Falcon's survivability.

Mobility[]

The M2127 is powered by a 6.0-liter Direct-Injected twin-turbocharged diesel V8, providing an electric generator with 600 horsepower. The electricity is then directed to power six 100-hp motors in each of the vehicle's wheels. The extra energy is stored in a Lithium-polymer battery sitting just above the vehicle's one-piece frame. Using airless tires, the vehicle can hit 120kmph on finely paved roads, and retains 35kmph off-road.

Upgrades[]

None.
