Mi-68K

The Imperial Navy of Russia was looking for new helicopters to purchase.

The Ka-75 was big, tough and could carry a bunch of weapons, but it couldn't recover downed pilots and sailors, making it unsuitable for the job.

But neither was the Mi-50. That beast was massive, unable to fit on most ship-borne helicopter pads and hangar bays.

So the Navy ordered Kamov and Mil to come up with new helicopters. Kamov came up with an enlarged Ka-75, with longer side wings and a small 4-man infantry bay. Mil came up with a new helicopter that looked like a downsized CH-53 Super Stallion, with longer wings to carry an entire RBU-14000 anti-submarine weapons array, and a dedicated carrying compartment that could transport eight people, or three stretchers and a full medical team. The Navy picked the latter.

1 AIRCRAFT+8 PASSENGERS

Main Armament[]

The Mi-68K is equipped with a Thermal and E/O detection suite that is dedicated to finding periscopes on the surface. Airborne threats can be detected by a radar mounted above the main rotors.

RBU-14000[]

The Mi-68K packs a dipping-sonar-guided RBU-14000 suite-20 320mm tubes that launch field-programmable depth charges and mini-torpedoes, allowing it to effectively deal with underwater threats. It can even intercept incoming torpedoes, something other naval gunships are unable to do.

Kord HMG[]

Two Kord HMGs can be utilized by the passengers.

Upgrades[]

A) YaKB 12.7mm Station

The IOR ran into IPC soldiers with RPGs attacking them from small speedboats after the IOR began island-hopping. To deal with such pesky threats, the Mi-68K is equipped with a YaKB 12.7mm remote weapon station, able to rip apart light boats with a steady stream of 12.7mmx99mm sized chunks of lead.

Armor[]

The Mi-68K is protected by ceramic-Kevlar plates beneath the aircraft's aluminum skin. This provides the Mi-68K with the capability to resist 14.5mm rounds. Unfortunately, autocannon rounds and missiles are a different story. Chaff and flares are also standard, as well as a basic ECM suite.

Propulsion[]

The Mi-68K uses the same engine package as the Mi-50, two Lotarev D-136-Us. They are able to let the Mi-68K move at 150 kilometers per hour and do so for 250 kilometers. If external fuel tanks are supplied, range is improved by 25%.
