MiG-Su-1

The problem with cooperation in Russia is that they use the manufacturer's name. So when the Imperium got a new Shturmovik, it had a combined Mikoyan-Sukohi manufacturer name.

But that mattered little, as the “Fearless” was an instant hit when it first came into action in the beginning of WW3.

The Imperium operated 180 MiG-Su-1s in 2033.

1 AIRCRAFT

Main Armament[]

A weapons bay is capable of carrying two KAB-1000s or two Kh-117 ARMs or four Kornet pods. It uses a small SAR-capable X-band AESA radar to find and attack ground targets, while airborne threats can also be effectively monitored and eluded.

GSh-30-6[]

The MiG-Su-1 is armed with a massive GSh-30-6 30mm Gatling chaingun, firing rounds at 6,000 rounds per minute. It draws from a 1200-round drum mounted inside the aircraft.

KAB-1000[]

The KAB-1000 is a GLONASS-guided 1000-kilogram High Explosive Proximity Fragmentation bombs. They are accurate to two meters when launched from 40,000 feet.

Kh-117[]

Kh-117 HARMs are the final products of Russian Anti-Radiation Missile technology. Equipped with a Radiation seeker and secondary IR and GLONASS guidance, the HARM can reliably deliver its 100lb thermobaric warhead on radars 75 kilometers away. Another plus is that it's the fastest High-speed Anti-Radiation Missile in the world: equipped rocket-boosted SCRamjet, it can reach speeds of Mach 12 or above on its way to the target, making it able to win almost any 'quick-draw' contest between the fighter and the SAM. Alternatively it can target the powerful radars of AWACS aircraft, but range is cut down to 50 kilometers.

Kornet ATGM[]

The Kornet ATGM, mounted in four-missile pods, can be deployed from the MiG-Su-1. The MiG-Su-1 can simultaneously attack sixteen targets with sixteen Kornets, providing excellent anti-tank firepower.

Upgrades[]

A) LADAR Suite To find enemy forces more effectively at 40,000 ft, the MiG-Su-1 can be equipped with a LADAR suite to increase its detection capability ten-fold. However, it's hopeless in rainfall or snowfall.

Armor[]

The MiG-Su-1 has Ceramic-aluminum-Kevlar plating, providing protection from kinetic energy penetrators up to the 40mm APFSDS grade. The two-man crew is also protected by a Titanium ejection pod. Plus, when most of its weight has been dropped or burned, the MiG-Su-1 suddenly becomes incredibly agile and highly maneuverable, thanks to its reverse-geometry wings and vector thrusters- a dangerous aircraft in dogfights. An E/O detection suite and radar jammers are also provided to the Fearless.

Propulsion[]

The Fearless uses two Saturn Al-41 engines. Each engine can produce 40,000 pounds of thrust at maximum afterburner, providing the MiG-Su-1 with more than enough power to lift its payload into the sky and stay there for 6,000 kilometers. It can supercruise to the target area at Mach 1.1, but it attacks at subsonic speeds. Vector thrusters are standard.
