Mirage-class (UEC)

A previous-generation ASW warship used by the OCR. Sold to the warlords for little more than scrap value.

Internal Designation: Corvette

Classification: Frigate

Displacement: 4000 Tons

Number: 12 in 2054

Purpose[]

The Mirage-class is designed to act as the primary warship, able to fight in anti-ship, anti-air, and most importantly, anti-submarine duties. It is usually deployed to defend merchant vessels.

Capacity[]

The Mirage-class can carry a single Raven.

Sensors[]

The Mirage-class carries a commercial navigation radar and an OWS AN/SPY-6092 X-band AESA mounted on the top of its mast. In addition, it carries a primitive Synthetic Aperture Sonar in its bow “bulge.”

Anti-Surface Weaponry[]

OWS L/63 57mm Autocannon (1)[]

The OWS L/63 57mm Autocannon is a modernized pre-GNC-period autocannon. Fitted with PHE rounds to either airburst a target, detonate on impact, or delay-action, the autocannon can engage a wide range of targets effectively. It can fire at a maximum of 180 rounds a minute, although it is set in 60 rpm. 120 rounds are stored in its two-layer carousel-style autoloader.

Trebuchet AShM (8)[]

The Trebuchet AShM was the primary AShM of the OCR in the WW3 period. Approximately the same storage dimensions as the RGM-84 Harpoon, the Trebuchet packs in a ramjet motor, a small underbelly duct, and a 10mm Hardened steel plate on the outside, allowing it to survive CIWS defense better.

Anti-Aircraft Weaponry[]

Dart SL-AAM (24)[]

The Mirage-class retains its small VLS cluster of 24 SL- Dart AAMs. The Dart Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile is the modern folding-fin version of the AIM-120 AMRAAM. Packing a rocket-boosted ramjet motor, inertial and terminal radar guidance, a vector thruster, and a 50lb pre-fragmented warhead, the Dart MRAAM is capable of hustling through the air at Mach 7, and strike a target 160 kilometers away.

Anti-Submarine Weaponry[]

Onward comes the Raven!

Upgrades[]

Towed SONAR array[]

For improved all-around detection, the Mirage-class can tow a SONAR array behind the ship.

Protection[]

Passive[]

The Mirage-class is protected by aluminum-Kevlar plating at critical positions, i.e. at the waterline. Fully waterproof compartments and a massive array of firefighting and leak-fixing tools are spread all over the ship. It is also shaped to reduce its RCS, to reduce detection and lock-on by anti-ship missiles.

Active[]

Guided weapons can be jammed by the onboard E/O jammer or chaff and flares dispenser. Aside from the ECM station and the chaff and flares launcher, the Mirage's CIWS can also take out incoming missiles.

Phalanx Block 1B CIWS (1)[]

To provide basic protection against incoming missiles, the Mirage-class has a Phalanx CIWS mounted on the roof of its hangar bay. The Phalanx CIWS carries a M61A2 Vulcan firing 20mm PGU-29 AP/HE/Incendiary munitions, which make it potent enough against enemy missiles. However, missiles with thick hardened steel plating is another story.

Locomotion[]

The Mirage-class is powered by four Oceania-built naval-grade gas turbines burning JP8, which allows the 4000-ton boat to cruise through the sea at 25 knots. Maximum range 1000 nautical miles.
