To build a counter to the HASF's numerous orbit-to-surface global retaliation and defense satellites, the UEC built a satellite carrying missiles for surface attack and lasers for self-defense.

Ten satellites, geostationary orbit, 20,200km.

Capacity[]

The OWP has an inflatable habitation module for mainenance crews to use.

Sensors[]

For orbit-to-ground targeting, the OWP has to use a friendly spy satellite or targeting from the ground. Its lasers have independent LADAR, however.

SLAM (8)[]

Space-to-Land Attack Missile, carried in clusters of eight. Each SLAM carries a ceramic heat shield, inertial guidance, a dual-grain chemical rocket, and most importantly, a ten-ton thermobaric warhead combined with zirconium for incendiary effects. It has all the firepower of a WW3 FOAM, but is much harder to intercept, thanks to falling from the sky at over 9 kilometers per second.

Upgrades[]

SLAM-N[]

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Developed to counter the TOP forces, the SLAM-N replaces the ten-ton thermobaric warhead with a thermonuclear one, a fission-ignited Deuterium-Tritium three-stage warhead. The warhead yields 52 MegaTons, able wipe half of BosWash from the face of earth in a split second, or do serious damage to a TOP starship.

Protection[]

OWPs are protected by an aluminum “Wiffile shield” and a layer of Kevlar weave to protect it from micro-meterors. In addition, it carries two D-THELs.

D-THEL(2)[]

Originally designed as a defensive laser, the D-THEL mounted in an independent turret on the satellite can also take up an offensive role--to take out any nearby missile, or even a satellite. Thanks to it's near-instantaneous attack speed and excellent accuracy, it is very lethal in the near-perfect vacuum of space.

Locomotion[]

Each OWP satellite has two clusters of ion thrusters that give it the capability to shift itself and aim its missiles. It does not have the means to move it out of its own orbit.
